Dr Geoff Coughlin is Australia’s most experienced and highest volume robotic prostatectomy surgeon. He has performed over 4500 robotic operations. He was trained by the world leader in robotic prostatectomy Dr Vip Patel at the Global Robotics Institute in America for 2 years where he gained operative experience in over 1000 robotic prostatectomies. He has published leading outcomes for robotic prostatectomy with respect to cancer control, urinary continence and erectile function.

In 2009 following his training in America, Dr Coughlin returned to Brisbane, Queensland and commenced Robotic Surgery programs at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and the Wesley Hospital. 

He co-authored the first Australian series of robotic partial nephrectomy (removal of kidney tumour with preservation of the kidney) and runs Australia’s advanced robotic urology training course for this procedure at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.

Dr Coughlin also presented the first Australian series of robotic radical cystectomy at the 2012 National Bladder and Kidney Cancer Symposium.

He specialises in providing individualised care for patients utilising the latest available investigations and treatments.
